AV Systems Engineer
Systems, signal flow, and solid solutions are just one part of this engineer’s day-to-day frontier. With credits at the Walt Disney World Resort under his belt, Will Barney is AOA’s bridge-builder between creative design and technical solutions.
Will got his start behind the theatrical curtain, working backstage across a variety of disciplines. Will gained a hands-on approach to design after being involved in all aspects of a production’s lifecycle. From conceptualization to physical installation, Will’s been involved in countless productions from start-to-finish – he’s even had experience operating them, too!
Will later earned his degree in Sound Design and Technology from the University of North Carolina, where he learned the ins-and-outs of sound fundamentals. In 2019, he made the leap to the world of themed entertainment on an internship with Walt Disney Imagineering. Working with the Show Systems department, he accumulated a wealth of experience in attractions, area development, and conceptual research & development. Regardless the nature of the project, Will is ready to collaborate and develop even the wildest of dreams. Impossible ideas are always the most fun.
Will’s prior experience includes Show Systems projects like TRON Lightcycle Power Run Rollercoaster at Disney’s Epcot, Bippity Boppity Boutique at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, and even Downtown Flavortown at FACE Amusement. Across every project he approaches, Will thrives in intuitive design and creative problem solving. He places concept and user experience at the forefront of every technical solution.
With a background in audio system engineering, Will understands the importance of the little details when it comes to the big picture. He adores clean paperwork, a good signal flow schematic, and a collaborative team – for him, that’s the only way to make any project truly shine. With technology advancing every day, there has never been a more exciting time to be a systems engineer.
