Show Set Designer
Drift down an ethereal river packed with otherworldly animals, join the rat-race in a restaurant kitchen, and take an intergalactic journey through pop culture halls with this show set design professional. From her storytelling skills to her incredible master planning abilities, Theresa Shook is among AOA’s iconic team of artistic innovators. Her 24 years of experience in fabrication and design make her an invaluable addition to any construction initiative.
And speaking of iconic aspects, Theresa’s projects include a wealth of opportunities across global Disney theme parks; some of her most high-profile projects include Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at Disney’s Epcot, the Na’vi River Journey at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Tower of Terror at Disney’s California Adventure, Disneyland Paris, and Tokyo Disneyland. From fabricating set pieces to coordinating ride engineering redesign, Theresa is experienced in all parts of the themed entertainment lifecycle. She particularly excels in master planning, architectural scale, and related fields in spatial responsibility. Aside from her experience in the theme park world, Theresa has worked on projects at the Chicago Institute of Science, Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture, various storefronts for retail locations across the globe, high-rolling casinos, and countless others.
Theresa got her start at Morningside College, where she double-majored in both Mass Communications and Theatre. From there on, she attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in pursuit of her M.F.A in Set Design. For this set designer, the best part of any project – theatrical or otherwise – is the joy she gets to inject into the guest experience. “Let’s go again!” is music to this incredible professional’s ears.
At AOA, Theresa assists in all things design. She creates culinary concepts for restaurant initiatives, demonstrates design fundamentals for luxury resorts, and – most importantly – crafts a fantastic story between every brush stroke.
