Originally from Venezuela, Mary Alarcon is among AOA’s team of skilled builders, project managers, and do-ers. From commercial construction projects in Latin America to stateside projects in residential construction, Mary’s broad experience has led her through unique challenges and exceptional accomplishments. After all, what could be more unique than a secret speakeasy in a high-end shopping mall, a Japanese hideaway in a Disney theme park, or an NYC bakery in Florida?
Needless to say, Mary has worked on a wealth of projects: EPCOT’s France Pavilion renovation, the Spice Road Table Restaurant at the Morocco Pavilion, the Katsura Garden Deck at the Japan Pavilion, and multiple back of house projects for Mitsukoshi. At Disney Springs, Mary managed Erin McKenna's Bakery NYC Commissary relocation and the location’s new storefront. She can even tell you about the AOA no-hands cupcake eating contest that resulted from that project.
At AOA, Mary Alarcon is part of the team that delivered The Edison, Maria & Enzo’s, and Enzo’s Hideaway at Disney Springs. Each of these riveting restaurant experiences, completed on behalf of the Patina Restaurant Group, presented unique challenges and exciting new prospects. Building in ceiling reinforcements for midair restaurant acrobats, creating an underground speakeasy in the heart of a shopping center, and designing an old-fashioned Italian kitchen are just a few of those challenges. Mary also worked on the Summerhouse expansion at Golden Oak, creating ultra-lux housing for the most dedicated Disney fans.
And as Mary says, with each new project comes unique challenges, especially when it comes to themed entertainment pursuits. Nevertheless, Mary has proven to be adaptable and capable in every project AOA throws at her – bring on the challenges, both big and small!
