Malorie chanced upon the themed entertainment world via a roommate, a summer internship, and a life-long love of theme parks. Ever since then, she’s been discovering new ways of making the behind-the-scenes organization a front-of-the-lens dream. With her experience in human resources, creating and executing contracts, coordinating vendors, managing facilities and repairs, and merchandising, Mal’s expertise has been honed by her AOA teammates – talk about a happy coincidence!
Mal’s start in the industry began with a recommendation from a roommate and a summer internship at AOA, where she assisted on initiatives at the newly-renovated Disney Springs. She quickly fell in love with the work – and AOA quickly became enchanted with her! After being hired on as a full-time team member, Mal has gotten the opportunity to work on both high-end hotels and themed entertainment initiatives across the world.
Some of those projects include the NBA Experience at Disney Springs, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and other projects across the Walt Disney World resort property. In partnership with Walt Disney Imagineering, Mal also worked on the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind; this high-speed rollercoaster whirl through the far reaches of the Guardians galaxy gave her the opportunity to manage vendors at all stage of show set design, drive action item lists, and best of all: communicate across departments. She’s become a key part of working across construction, creative, and client lines of communication – it’s definitely a learned skill, and one that she’s proud to have. Mal has her AOA projects to thank for her excellence in communication and her willingness to jump into any project issue.
Stumbling into themed entertainment might’ve been an accident, but it’s the happiest accident that Mal could’ve ever imagined. Whether it’s rebounding an old attraction and scoring a winner or guiding galactic espionage, she applies her career excellence to all things AOA.
