As part of Red Chair at AOA, David’s daily duties include procurement, project budget management, and implementing automated dog wash stations. You could certainly say that every day is different at David’s desk, and he can hardly disagree with you. With a career spent in racecars, grocery stores, and iconic luxury hotels, variety is the spice of David Southon’s professional life.
David is a hospitality professional with over 15-years of hands-on construction management experience. He supports both domestic and international luxury resort projects, including projects like San Diego’s Hotel del Coronado. At this Some Like it Hot set and resort, David orchestrated the fulfillment of two brand new retail locations, 300 legendary luxury suites, and a sea-to-table dining experience. Additionally, David has worked on the St. Regis Bal Harbor, the Arizona Biltmore, and many more iconic, opulent locations.
In prior capacity, David started his career working for the UK’s major supermarket chain as part of a select team in pursuit of blue sky revenue generation ideas - that’s where those dog wash stations come in! Aside from canine-cleaning initiatives, David also implemented hand car wash stations and high-tech community recycling centers. And as for long-term projects with said grocery store chain, how’s the remodeling of 650 gas stations for size? That’s not to mention the 1500 grocery store conversions, either.
Both in the past and in the current climate, David has never been a stranger to big overhauls and nationally-recognized brands. His comfort in renovations and hotel construction comes from those years of experience spent working on all project aspects, from the little details to the big picture. Since relocating to Florida in 2007, David has pursued all things luxury lodgings and incredible inns alongside the AOA team – high-tech recycling systems and all.
