Whether he’s acting as the general foreman for a classic rollercoaster as it zips through the galaxy or managing maintenance amidst an omnimover’s 100 happy haunts, Art Grimshaw is AOA’s go-to craftsman for all things immersive entertainment. After over thirty years in the business, Art has learned the ins-and-outs of all things Disney building codes, maintenance manuals, and more. Art’s substantial skills have brought him all across the Disney World property and its adjacent worlds in cruise ships, resorts, and special events.
Art's focus, years of training, and excellent communication skills have allowed him to provide general oversight, field supervision, and administrative roles for new construction, retrofit, and maintenance projects. During his career, Art has acted as General Foreman for Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, and The Haunted Mansion at Disney’s Magic Kingdom; Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios; Flight of Passage at Pandora – The World of Avatar; and many other exciting E-ticket and classic theme park attractions.
During his time with the mouse, Arthur has bumped elbows with Disney’s best, having worked alongside Walt Disney Imagineering, Ride & Show, Sustaining Engineering, AF&E Structural Engineers, third-party Engineers, and Architects. He’s developed an excellent set of skills working across various lines of business, industries, and personalities; Art is proud to say that he’s learned how to operate under high pressure projects. His crowning achievement when it comes to challenging projects? Carrying out maintenance on a space-themed rollercoaster during guest hours – talk about a unique experience!
But best of all, Art has led his AOA team-mates through a wealth of complex programs. Making sure projects stay in-budget and at-timeline is among his favorite daily duties alongside his team, and Art thrives when he can use his technical skills alongside his management know-how. Art is one of the integral parts of making sure AOA’s projects are fit to zoom across the galaxy alongside those rollercoasters.
