Production + Design Coordinator

Alexandra Carmona is a native of Rochester, NY, a skilled scenic painter, and a design coordinator with a love of learning, leadership, and laudable leisure experiences. She leads her AOA teams into exciting new themed entertainment heights in fabrication, design, and all things immersive.

But before you can lead a team into new heights, you have to start with a strong foundation. Alexandra’s artistic foundation began with a scenic apprenticeship at Orlando Shakespeare Theatre shortly after earning a degree in painting from the University of Florida. In the early days of her entertainment experience, Alexandra learned how to make rock-solid props and how to run a star-studded production. From the day she began painting and to the day she picked up project management, Alexandra entered the workforce with one principal in mind: build something fantastic that will blow any audience away.

And as her professional career blossomed, Alexandra led fabrication teams responsible for the production of high-quality props and scenery for world-class leaders in the immersive entertainment industry. Notable attractions to which Alexandra has contributed include Disney’s Frozen: Ever After at Epcot, where she assisted in making a Norway-inspired winter wonderland come to live; Disney’s Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse at Magic Kingdom, in which Alexandra helped a classic attraction rise to new heights; Skull Island: Reign of Kong at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, allowing King Kong to return to the iconic park in style; as well as props and specialty lighting fixtures for The Edison at Disney Springs: a swingin’ project chock-full of gleaming bars and getaway cars.

Alexandra excels at organization, leadership, communication, and decision making. Her history as a scenic painter, paired with her ability to be a strategic planner with hands-on experience in budget and schedule adherence, gives her a real-world idea of cost measurement and time management. Nevertheless, Alexandra brings unique perspective to every laudable leisure experience AOA approaches.

In addition to the artistic skills required for fabrication, Alexandra excels at organization, leadership, communication, and decision making. In her role of Production & Design Coordinator at AOA, these skills allow her to manage fabrication and installation teams while ensuring that all aspects of a project exceed the expectations of clients and guests. This is achieved early on during the design process, where she advises AOA’s design team in practical production and buildability. Successful production and installation of props and scenery requires Alexandra to be a strategic planner as well as a quick and effective problem solver. She is proficient at understanding the strengths of her team members and utilizing those strengths to produce work of the best quality, while always prioritizing safety. While coordinating production and jobsite activities, Alexandra works closely with project owners and general contractors in order to efficiently collaborate toward on-schedule and on-budget attractions.

Alexandra is currently pursuing her Masters in Themed Environment Integration through the University of Florida’s Orlando location, CityLab.
