Arizona Biltmore

Phoenix, Arizona

Client:

BRE Hotels and Resorts

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Arizona Biltmore was in need of renovation of their pool area and historic speakeasy. For the speakeasy, the scope included restoring the original speakeasy from its current conference room status to its authentic state with custom designed furniture and period pieces. AOA was also responsible for the creation of an Augmented Reality app guiding guests to the hidden speakeasy.

The aquatic scope included renovation to the Paradise Pool including resurfacing the pools, repaving the deck, refreshing the cabanas, and replacing the existing slide tower structure. It included the construction of two new ADA accessible cabanas, and a new Main Entry Building with Retail and Storage spaces. The existing slide tower structure was transformed, in the sense that it was demolished and completely reconceptualized and modernized to include a theme-park grade waterslide with a custom stair tower that reflects the property’s distinctly modernist design origins. AOA was responsible for the Design Management Coordination with Owner’s Selected Design Consultants for Civil, Landscape Architecture, Aquatic Design, Interiors, and Architecture. AOA was also responsible for FF&E Procurement, management of the Purchasing Agent, and scheduling deliveries according to the Contractor’s schedule.
